I’ve been using pre-made icing as an example of a product in Australian supermarkets that is clearly labelled as containing genetically modified ingredients for a while, and here’s the proof. I choose ‘blue’ flavour for effect, but it also came in pink and brown. This photo was taken on 12/5/2012 in a popular independant supermarket in the Adelaide suburb of Norwood.

Interestingly the word ‘genetically modified’ appear four times in the ingredients list: corn syrup, soy (although it could be cottonseed) maltodextrin (I’m not sure what crop this has come from – must look it up) and corn starch. This product has also been imported from the USA so I should also check whether it’s labelled this way to comply with Australian legislation only.
